The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) announced on 6 May that there will be an immediate increase in the price of a gorilla permit in Rwanda from US $750 to US $1,500.
The reasons for this increase are given in the attached letter from RDB. All tourism companies will be implementing this increase with immediate effect. All new permits bought will have to be bought at the higher price. Existing permits that have already been purchased are not affected. The Rwanda Tour and Travel Association (RTTA) requested that the increase be delayed for six months but this suggestion was not accepted.
