Update on the situation in Goma in Eastern DRC 28 November 2012
There have been continuing reports of instability in recent days near the city of Goma and North Kivu province in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo and with some reports of isolated incidents near the DRC/Rwanda border. The situation in North Kivu province in DRC remains changeable and the instability may continue for some period.
We understand the concerns these issues may cause. As colleagues in the travel industry will know Volcanoes Safaris has been operating in Uganda and Rwanda for over fifteen years and the security of our guests has always been paramount. We monitor developments very closely through our many connections in the region. The instability in Eastern DRC does not affect travel to the gorilla parks of Southern Uganda (Bwindi and Mgahinga) and Rwanda (Parc National des Volcans). The gorillas parks are stable and gorilla tracking continues normally. The governments of Uganda and Rwanda have reinforced security in the area.
Volcanoes Safaris is monitoring the situation and will inform clients/agent of any developments. We look forward to welcoming guests on safari.
