Volcanoes Safaris featured in AFAR

We are honoured to feature alongside other inspiring companies transforming the way we travel.

In 2016, AFAR created the Travel Vanguard to honour values-oriented leaders making positive changes in the travel industry. This year, they have expanded their lens to focus on entire organizations that walk the walk to ensure that travel is a force for good. Out of more than 100 nominees, Volcanoes Safaris has been recognized as a visionary company for our efforts and impact in ‘putting community first’.

Take a look at the full article here which highlights the many ways in which we demonstrate our long-standing commitment to making people a top priority for our business.

Safari Activities

Chimpanzee Tracking

Tracking chimpanzees in their natural habitat, as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor is nothing short of exhilarating. The chimps effortlessly cross and scamper through the trees above the gorge, and visitors on the other hand must cross the river using natural bridges in order to keep up with the chimps. So although the walk usually lasts only 2–3 hours, descending the steep gorge and crossing the log bridges over the river requires some agility and fitness.

Chimpanzee tracking is also available in nearby Kalinzu, a forest reserve 30 minutes drive from Kyambura Gorge Lodge where there is a community of about 40 habituated chimpanzees.
