Joseph Nsabimana joined Volcanoes Safaris as a casual worker in carpentry and joinery in 2012 before becoming Head of Carpentry in 2021 and now serving as Construction Manager since 2025. He oversees construction, renovation, and maintenance projects across the lodges, leading a team of skilled artisans from the Great Lakes region. He enjoys learning new designs, construction techniques, and approaches that enhance his craftsmanship.

He is passionate about using locally sourced materials wherever possible, helping to reduce environmental impact while creating authentic and durable lodge spaces.

Joseph was born in Burera District in Rwanda's Northern Province. He trained in carpentry and joinery at Gatenga Youth Centre in Kigali, graduating with a Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery in 2005. 

Outside of work, he enjoys reading, watching and playing football, and spending time with his family. His favorite animal is the gorilla, whose quiet strength and leadership he finds inspiring.
