Launch of the 2025 Annual Carnivore Survey in Queen Elizabeth National Park
14 November 2025
To launch the 2025 annual carnivore survey in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust hosted a two-day Lion Census Workshop at the Kyambura Research Centre.
The workshop focused on scientific techniques for capturing lion data across the savannah landscape, the first part of this year’s census. The practical training workshop brought together stakeholders from Uganda Wildlife Authority, conservation NGOs, safari lodges and research institutions.
The Kyambura Lion Monitor Team supports the critical conservation work of Uganda Wildlife Authority.
The meeting also fostered collaboration with teams sharing experiences from Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls, and Kidepo Valley National Parks.
Thank you to our generous donors and supporters including Denver Zoo, Lion Recovery Fund, and Adventure Travel Conservation Fund, as well as Kyambura Gorge Lodge guests.
Thank you to all participants and we wish you the best of luck in the field for the 2025 carnivore survey!
