The Batwa, once forest dwellers in the Virunga Mountains, were displaced in 1991 when Mgahinga in Uganda became a national park to protect mountain gorillas.
Volcanoes Safaris and the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust (VSPT), with support from the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund and Volcanoes' guests, built them a permanent village.
