Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust (VSPT) and Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance (DZCA) Collaboration to Support the Kyambura Lion Monitoring Project

Volcanoes Safaris Founder Praveen Moman and COO Kevin James recently joined a hybrid event organised by our conservation partner, the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance (DZCA), highlighting the collaboration to support the Kyambura Lion Monitoring Project in Uganda.

During the event, Praveen and Kevin discussed the project’s growing impact, while the DZCA team shared exciting updates, including support for two new lion collars for field research.

Participants also had the opportunity to interact with the field team in Uganda via a live stream, where lions were spotted basking in the grass.

The partnership between the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust (VSPT) and DZCA focuses on studying and protecting one of East Africa’s most endangered lion populations in Queen Elizabeth National Park. 

The Kyambura Lion Monitoring team work in collaboration with the Uganda Wildlife Authority to conduct an annual survey of African lion, leopard, and hyena in the Queen Elizabeth Conservation Area using a network of vehicles and remote camera traps.
