Jean-Pierre Lequeux was born in Paris. He has a Diploma of Law from the University of Paris and a Diploma in Accountancy and Diploma in Management. He was a school teacher in Rwanda as part of his National Service.
He has had held senior managerial posts throughout East Africa. These have included being General Manager of Mineral Services Uganda; Managing Director of The Cooper Motor Corporation Uganda; working at the Italian Embassy in Uganda; Deputy Managing Director of Spear Motors Ltd; General Manager of Universal Safari Tours Ltd (Coast Branch); working for various road contractors in Tanzania and Rwanda.
Since 2014, he has worked with Volcanoes Safaris on a part-time basis as Director for Human Resources and Administration for Uganda and Rwanda.
After his studies he came to Uganda on holiday nearly 50 years ago and fell in love and decided to stay in Africa. He is also a keen entomologist and he carries out a research on some families of Uganda butterflies. He has co-authored a number of scientific descriptions and articles on the subject.
He speaks French, English, Italian, Kiswahili, and has ‘notions of German’. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions Club International.
