The 45-acre Kyambura Wetland, part of the Kyambura Gorge Ecotourism Project, is a sanctuary for over 220 species of birds, mammals and reptiles.
The wetland was previously used as an illegal brickworks but has returned back to its natural state thanks to the conservation efforts of Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust and the local communities living nearby.
As seasons shift and species migrate to favourable locations, new species are regularly being seen. VSPT runs guide training programs in the wetlands to train local youth in wildlife and conservation.
Join Andrew, a graduate from the training program in 2022 and now a wildlife guide at Kyambura Gorge Lodge, on an evening walk through the wetland.
