The competition will close on January 1st 2013 so hurry up and submit your photo(s) at [email protected] for a chance to win the 4-Day Hiking and Culture in Mgahinga safari for 2 people with Volcanoes!

This safari combines the glorious nature walks and hikes in Mgahinga National Park and experiencing the fascinating culture of the indigenous Batwa people. There are challenging mountain hikes such as to the summit of Mt Muhavura or gentler guided walks such as through Sabinyo Gorge. You will be accompanied at all times by our friendly, knowledgeable guides. The Volcanoes Collection offers luxurious, stylish and comfortable lodges in truly stunning settings.

Safari prize includes: an expert Volcanoes driver/guide and vehicle for the itinerary agreed. Accommodation on a shared basis and meals as stated in the itinerary. All activities as per the itinerary agreed. At Volcanoes Lodges (Bwindi, Mount Gahinga, Kyambura and Virunga), the tariffs are on an all-inclusive basis and include unlimited consumption of all alcoholic and soft drinks; laundry services; and any activities guests wish to do around the lodges. A complimentary massage is also offered.

Safari prize excludes: airfares to Uganda/Rwanda, entry visas and airport taxes, gratuities, personal expenditure such as drinks and laundry at non-Volcanoes Lodges.

Safari Activities

Chimpanzee Tracking

Tracking chimpanzees in their natural habitat, as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor is nothing short of exhilarating. The chimps effortlessly cross and scamper through the trees above the gorge, and visitors on the other hand must cross the river using natural bridges in order to keep up with the chimps. So although the walk usually lasts only 2–3 hours, descending the steep gorge and crossing the log bridges over the river requires some agility and fitness.

Chimpanzee tracking is also available in nearby Kalinzu, a forest reserve 30 minutes drive from Kyambura Gorge Lodge where there is a community of about 40 habituated chimpanzees.
