Volcanoes Safaris: Update on Ebola in the DRC
19 June 2026
19 June 2026
There have been reports of an Ebola outbreak centred on the Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The governments of the DRC and Uganda, working alongside the CDC and WHO, have put measures in place to monitor and control the situation.
Travel to Uganda, gorilla tracking, lodges continue to operate normally
Travel to and within Uganda continues as normal, and no restrictions have been imposed on movement within the country. The national parks, gorilla and chimpanzee tracking, and all Volcanoes Safaris lodges are operating as usual.
Volcanoes Safaris has operated since 1997
Volcanoes Safaris has operated in Uganda and Rwanda for almost thirty years, and the safety of our guests and staff is paramount. Over that time, the region has seen a number of episodes of Ebola and similar diseases. No guest has been affected, and in our experience the risk of a traveller contracting Ebola is negligible.
Our senior managers continue to assess the situation on the ground. Everything is calm and life is continuing as normal.
Regular updates
We will continue to monitor the situation and issue further updates as required. We also encourage clients and agents to consult the travel advisories of the specialist health organisations - CDC, WHO, as well as that of their home country.
If you have any questions we would be glad to arrange a call with our CEO or a member of the senior management team.
Variation to our Terms and Conditions
Volcanoes Safaris is making an exceptional variation to its Terms and Conditions. Should circumstances related to the Ebola outbreak require a client to postpone their safari, they may do so within twelve months of their original travel date, subject to availability. We will be as flexible as possible and keep any additional costs to a minimum.
Please contact your sales consultant for further information. We appreciate your continued support.
Sincerely,
Volcanoes Safaris
